Meet dr. jessica Eastman
I am a trauma-informed Naturopathic Doctor with a mental health practice and Trauma Recovery Coach.
I believe that taking care of humans means meeting them where they’re at, which is why I believe so strongly in trauma-informed care. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to “have” trauma or that we have to work on it; it just means that I show up with compassion for how we are all struggling and with consideration for the challenging aspects of life. And sometimes, it means we have to support our nervous system and work on the results of our traumatic experiences to make our recovery goals possible.
My work is built upon my medical training and my decade of experience in the mental healthcare and addiction recovery fields and is blended with the most up-to-date, gentle, and supportive therapy, counseling, and trauma-informed and integrative practices for supporting mental health and addiction recovery.
I believe in a harm reduction model of addiction support, that everyone’s recovery journey is unique, and that the nervous system is at the root of it all. If we can help your nervous system to feel safe with being present in your life and with your feelings, healing is possible. I generally use a combination of mindfulness, somatic therapy, polyvagal theory, and family systems theory (“parts work”) to help you build a blueprint for your personal recovery journey.
My unique combination of training, experience, and tools often allows folks to make significant progress in their recovery and lives, even when other types of therapy haven’t worked for them. My role is to empower you with the tools and strength to learn, heal, and grow, and I LOVE my job.
CLIENT FEEDBACK
“I think one of the biggest things is the experts. I really resonated with Dr. Eastman. The conversations are high level sessions with high level people – and they were amazing. I had some amazing breakthroughs. She was able to explain things and put things into perspective and even noticing behaviors I have, or triggers, or self-soothing behavior that just made things more apparent and I could actually see when they were happening and maybe stop it or be in a position to make a decision – that was absolutely huge.”
“Dr. Eastman helped my reboot a ton. [She] helped me see that these emotion – these strong emotions – get you in a hyped up state. You have to learn to calm yourself down – and once you do that, you’ll be able to address what’s causing [or] leading to that emotion in a more rational manner. Like she says, “in order to heal it, you have to feel it”. That’s a great way to put it.”
